Convict built in 1838, the Norfolk Bay Convict Station was Australia's first railway station and a pivotal part of the Tasman Peninsula's penal system. Our home overlooks the sheltered waters of Little Norfolk Bay midway between Port Arthur and Eaglehawk Neck. In convict times it was the main port of entry to the Tasman peninsula and home to a convict built schooner in the penal service. It is now a safe anchorage for yachts and pleasure craft as well as home to oyster beds and abundant sea life.
Base yourself centrally to enjoy the diverse features of the Tasman Peninsula. We're within one km of the Tasmanian Devil Park, Mussel Boys restaurant and the Federation Chocolate Factory and Museum and just 10 km from Port Arthur.
Walk in the rugged beauty of the Tasman National Park to the highest sea cliffs in the Southern hemisphere, take a sea cruise, surf, dive, rock climb, hire a kayak, bike or our boat, go horse riding or dine on local delicacies, play a round of golf, try fishing from the pier or just enjoy sunset over the bay with a glass of wine on the veranda, fish off the jetty in from of the house or just wander in the gardens and say hi to the chickens!
Lorella & Lynton — your resident hosts — look forward to seeing you.
